Thebe was born to a ship assigned to ferry fuel and back to much larger imperial warships. These refueling tankers were incredibly large in themselves, and allowed for huge spaces for anyone to inhabit. She learned to listen to the ship, named at that time the Skyra's Faithful. One of the vessels that she supplied was the black fleet strike cruiser Gloria Imperator. During a routine refueling visit, her "gift" manifested itself in the presence of an Inquisator who had chosen the Imperator as his transportation, and she was taken aboard.

At one point during the ritual, the pain and torment of the indoctrination Crippled Thebe's memory. The Adepts supervising managed to reconstruct some superficial elements from her fractured mind, but her identity was virtually lost. They were forced to recreate her mind in the vein of her previous existence; and so Taura was born, with the skills and abilities of her former sense but the memories of her real existence only a dull echo in her mind.

She is sanctioned to act in any way she needs to achieve her goal

Background

Verbal was born on a massive Forge vessel, part of an Explorator Fleet on the fringes of the Imperium. He grew up surrounded by the ancient manufactories and archaeotech devices of the vessel, becoming familiar with various litanies and rituals for their repair and maintenance. He had many opportunities in his teen years to pilot various craft to and from the numerous vessels of the fleet as well as various planets, growing familiar with navigation and operation of a number of vessels.

At the age of 16, he was kidnapped from a fringe world, and press-ganged into service with a pirate crew as the pilot of their raider vessel. He endured horrible beatings and mistreatment at the hands of the pirate captain until the ship was captured by the Adeptus Arbites three years later. Imprisoned, and violently interrogated, he nearly gave up hope until a guard showed him mercy, allowing him to escape.

Since then, Verbal has recovered to a large degree, though he still has a tremendous fear of imprisonment. He decided to make his way as a freelance pilot, helming a number of bulk transports across the Koronous Sector over the last 14 years. He learned various warp passageways, dangerous areas of space, and both the quickest routes, and the ones most likely to avoid attention. He has become an expert at the helm of a voidship, as well as learning a tremendous amount about assorted Xenos, and the Imperial Navy.

Verbal has his nickname because of his tendency to talk frequently, even during tense or dangerous situations. He frequently makes sarcastic or off-color jokes at inappropriate moments, and is generally amenable. During a fight, however, he is calm and detached, and quite capable of destroying his opponents with either his Bolt Pistol or his Power Sword, both trophies from his escape from Imperial custody. He is also known to be fond of using various types of grenades.

Haxta; former member of the Machine Cult, former member of the Inquisition, former member of the human race. Like any good, loyal citizen of the Imperium, when the time came, Haxta gladly gave her life for her God-Emperor. She died in screaming defiance of the heretic scum she had sworn to root out and destroy. But death was not her end.

Her broken and ruined body was reclaimed by the Adeptus Mechanicus, but was not laid to rest. Secreted away, it was given new flesh and new machinery. Haxta was reborn, the weak form that had failed her gone, replaced by a superior body.

Her rebirth however was not done by the will of Machine Cult or that of the God-Emperor. Her corpse had been snatched by Hereteks, her life restored by knowledge stolen from the Mechanicus with the intent to use it against the Machine Cult. An abomination, a true AI, had been placed into the circuits that intertwined with her mind.

Against her will, Haxta was used to disrupt, damage, and corrupt the workings of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Her body no longer her own, her mind controlled by the AI in her head, she spent long years tearing down and battling against the very things she believed in most.

Salvation came from the unlikeliest of sources, in the form of a rogue psyker, desperately on the run from the Black Ships. It was but a passing meeting in a back alleyway, a panicked reaction from the psyker who lashed out wildly with his cursed powers before darting away, and a reeling moment of utter confusion as her mind was assaulted. As embedded into her mind as it was, the AI did not escape the telepathic attack, and in that moment of chaos Haxta recovered first.

Regardless of the damage, she had torn out the circuitry from her own head, casting it to the ground and crushing it under foot. Freedom, her mind was her own again, damaged and corrupted though it was. In control of herself for the first time in years, Haxta wasted no time in striking back at the monsters that had used her so. It was a proper irony that they died screaming at the hands of their own heretical creation.

Though herself once again and the heretics delivered into the righteous judgment of the God-Emperor, Haxta knew she had been tainted far too greatly to return to her previous life. She had sinned greatly against the Imperium and the Machine Cult, her inability to prevent it hardly excuse enough for the seriousness of her crimes. The Inquisition would surely strike her down should she become known to them, and the Adeptus Mechanicus was unlikely to be any more forgiving.

Death had taken her once before, and yet she found herself unable to face that cold void again. She had fled, seeking out whatever relative safety and hopeful sanctuary she might be able to find on the fringes of Imperial civilization. What she found was a place on a ship belonging to a former Adeptus Astartes of all people, serving as mechanic, medic, and warrior alike. Her past still haunts her most nights, and sometimes she is certain some whisper of the AI still lurks within her, but she finds some measure of peace and satisfaction in helping to maintain the vessel and its crew.

Josey grew up in the Aquila's, an underhive gang where he learned all the skills a good ganger should know; how to kill and where to dump the body. He left to settle down with a girl he met and for a good few years he, his wife and their young son made a living farming and selling the algae off the underhive water reclamation tanks.

That came to an end when the local law enforcers forced him back into the Aquila's to break them. They had promised his family protection but when the Aquila's found out what was going on, they murdered Josey's family and it turned out the promise of protection was just hot air.

Josey took his vengeance on the Aquila's and the law, and then escaped off world.

He favours a set of hand cannons and typically wears an old flak cloak and helmet in combat, over top his old Aquila jacket and an environmental body glove. On down time he's usually in his old jacket (a black leather jacket with metal studs in the shap of an Aquila and faded flames on the arms), riding boots and dark blue trousers.

Background

From his earliest memory, Constantine was trained in the ways of nobility. How to dress, how to act, how to eat; even how to think. His life wasn’t as easy as some noble-born children, as his parents expected their son to be a prominent figure in the circles of high society. He was groomed, trained, tutored, and disciplined harshly, all to make him a shining example of the superiority of the noble houses.

Naturally, his parents were dismayed at his choice to become a cleric, in service only to the great God-Emperor of Mankind. His faith was the one thing that had allowed him to endure the endless berating and criticism of his parents. He had been at the monastery for a mere three months when word arrived of the attack on his homeworld. His parents, childhood friends, his beloved little sister; all were dead at the hands of the forces of Chaos.

He wandered about for nearly a decade, stricken with grief, spending vast sums on liquor and lho, and living as a starfaring vagabond. Eventually, he settled in on a hive world, using his connections with nobility to secure valuable contracts for various unsavory types, and various unsavory goods for cultured types. He developed a network of contacts throughout the region, all so that he might one day find a way to exact revenge against the agents of Chaos.

Constantine is boisterous and sly, ruthless when needed, but always amicable. His way with words and refined manner has allowed him access to willing women, the secret vaults of high-born rulers, and knowledge of Imperial operations in the Koronous Expanse and beyond. He can charm or coerce his way to almost any desired outcome.

He met Captain Degloch by chance, intervening in a business deal to prevent bloodshed, and in the process, got the Captain double the money he was set to receive. Hired on as the unofficial representative of the Captain’s burgeoning operation, he is finally able to use the full spectrum of his talents, physical, mental, and spiritual.

Bio
Karro Zek was born the second son of an upper-hive noble house of Merov, and was raised with the education and entitlement that one would expect.  He was first approached by the Inquisition after his intrigue - which helped topple a rival merchant house - also happened to expose the heretical corruption at the top of the house.  Zek's ambition, skills, and ruthlessness ensured that he continued to rise through the ranks of the Ordo Hereticus to the standing of Interrogator.

Personally, Zek is charming, polished, and possessed of a high level of etiquette.  His words and action are carefully measured and tinged with a touch of aloofness.  There is always present, however, a subtext of intolerance and arrogant pride.  He is loyal to the Inquisition, seeing it is a useful tool rather than an object of fear, and in any case has a clear view of on which side of it he stands; he is certainly not averse, though, to availing himself of the perqs and pride of place that being a member of the Holy Ordos afford him.
