Firefly-esque WH40K?

Just gauging interest in a firefly style 40K rpg. So no huge powerful ship but by the same token, no real limits on what you can do. You'd owe allegiance to no one but yourselves, want to raid an unguarded colony world, murder everyone and steal their shit? Go nuts.

Now the flip side, you may find yourself hunted by the IoM or whoever else you've pissed off.

Anyways, I'd probably use the DH ruleset because I have the physical books with some extra xp at the start so your not fumbling about.

Yeah, I would like that more honestly, with the wildwest-esque style and everything, even if it's only in mind, and I know nothing about WH40K.

I'm interested, but the summer semester is also starting in two weeks. Between that, D&D in real life, the zombies, and the SW sim over on DITL, I might be stretching myself thin. So I can't commit now, but if I find myself able, I might join later if that's allowable.

I'm interested, But if it were a truly firefly based thing I'd be out. I haven't the time or inclination to try and learn a whole new RP universe.

I found one (Serenity) and a book with extra ships and guns. Briefly looked it over, the short of it is: lots of ship designs to choose from along with personal gear but the weapons listing is short. I suppose you could just create your own weapon using existing stats.

That said, I'm inclined to stay with the 40K because most of us are familiar with it and I can just port the ship plans over.

But either way is good for me.

Is it going to be in the 40k universe or is it going to be in the Firefly universe?

I was thinking in the 40K universe but at the extreme fringes of the IoM, so you could go beyond Imperial space if you were so inclined.

Otherwise we may as well just do Firefly.

Hell, if we're on the IoM fringe it could end up being a lot like Firefly. Though generally thats the idea behind RT.

So now we need to look into crew issues. What kinds of people will we need?

I call pilot. Maybe have pistol training (basic), and some limited melee, but mostly just piloting and repair skills.

Then, I guess we'd need a captain, first mate, medic, engineer, and some toughs for whatever needs shootin'.

I think I'd like to take the role of Captain.

Tentative plan for the ship. Yes that's ripped straight from the Serentiy RPG. You likely won't get the missiles or guns (space will be used for cargo) but the good news is that with all the quarters, there's enough for everyone to have their own.

Oh and two shuttles.

And yes Deep you can have an Ork character. But you start off at the base RT level with him and everyone else will get the XP to equal out. Also, there will have to be a PC that can take him on...just in case.
