Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
Nice, so I'm taking two characters then! AA and Ork...
Going to be fun interaction.

Adeptus Astartes.
Question: will you be using the Rogue Trader rules for ships? Like, Characteristics, Components, Ship Points, Complications, etc?
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
An Astartes on a 100m ship with an Ork and possibly pirates....he a Renegade?
I'M not sure Pres. I don't really want to get bogged down. That said I will be using the RT system for ammo and ships parts and gear. Somewhat tweaked to represent your fiscal status.

Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
Cool. That's what I imagined the plan would be. No need to get overcomplicated with it, but we're definitely the low end of the spectrum.
What about Profit Factor? When it comes to acquiring gear and so forth.

Yeah, thats the plan. There's a large number of renegades, discharged, disgraced or simply abandoned Astartes on the books. Wouldn't be hard for one of them to end up some where with a small ship and crew.

Especially if they were discharged for bureaucratic reasons rather than genuine dishonor.
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
lol, Uriel Ventris?
Anyways. I had thought that the "profit factor" would cover things like routine maintenance, the most basic level of food and drink (like meal bricks, cheap booze) and your ammo, which would all replenish automatically at port.
So you start off with whatever you've bought before the game actually kicks off (with money the GM grants) and you make port, your Steadholder Lever Gun's ammo automatically fills up but if you want, say a Sunfury plasma pistol, you need the credits to buy it but it then gets replenished as your Steadholder did.
And we'll be doing the "you get three complete reloads, your PC is assumed to have them on him" thing. One may be exotic if I think it won't make you to uber.

Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
Since my Navigator starts with a Lucius-pattern Hellpistol, I'll only take the single magazine (it's a 10kg backpack! ).
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
Oh that reminds me, a three eyed freak might not be required. I was going to gift you guys with a chart.
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
I'll probably wind up being a Scum, I'll just bring him up to the same level. The characters are supposed to be compatible. Maybe a Technomat.
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
I imagine some of us will have to play more than one character to fill out the roster of necessary crew, at least to start.
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
We can fill some stuff with servitors if required. Hopefully other folks from DITL will come along.
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
With everyone playing RT characters, you'll probably get 1 levels worth of XP to start. And some cash/kit.
THose of us using DH characters will get the required XP to bring us up to the RT level.

Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
I'm totally thinking about taking a Devastator. Taking a Terminator Sgt for ship uses would be EPIC!
Re: Firefly-esque WH40K?
I'm up for this but I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to 40k roleplay (I can pour through the rulebooks though). I'm just going to spam questions and get it over and done with, Cba with doing it slowly.
Which rulebook and any additional stuff is being used?
What posts are yet to be filled?
How much understanding of the rules am I going to need? (IE, Do i need to read the book all the way through before I even try to get to grips with this.
No problem if so, i've got a week of school).
