We almost lost one of our best friends last night to an ovarian cyst that ruptured and started bleeding. Doctor says it was "close" but she didn't need any blood so...

Just glad she made it.

Glad to hear (the bit about her making it, that is.)  My own back problems continue, but seem to pale in comparison to things like that and to my bro-in-law - who just developed a facial twitch on the left... which may indicate a regrowth or metastasis of the neuroma which had been growing around and into his left-side auditory and facial motor nerves.

I'm rather confused as to why people complain about not having jobs. So many of our civilian personnel get upset about their paychecks but then when you offer them extra time they refuse on grounds of they don't feel like working.

Are they hiring?

Aaron people are always hiring. When they cut the SRT service I had two years ago I got my current job the following morning.

Hooray! Doc thinks my double-herniated disc will respond to treatment! The trouble is, the treatment he thinks is indicated is an epidural injection and infusion.

It's working, more or less... just painfully after sitting too long or exerting for more than half an hour or so. Doc decided a round of physical therapy was the way to go, so we'll see how that works before anything more drastic. I can already lift a bit more and almost touch my own knees, so that's a step in the right direction.

Well, wish me luck. I go tomorrow a.m. for an epidural steroid injection. Needles don't really bother me, even really large ones; but the idea of disrupting some folks' lives for a day to help me out as I go get anesthetized and inhjected - when there's no guarantee that the process will even help - does bother me.
