Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
"Ambitious first mission for an untested crew," Haxta commented from near the doorway to the bridge as the transmission ended. Once the meeting in the hanger had concluded she had returned to her earlier task, fixing the misaligned hatch. She felt some small twang of guilt for having not given the ritual the complete total of her awareness, but she had preformed the basic repair rite so often even her biological mind could run through the process with attention to spare. As such, she would have needed to make an active effort to tune out Constantine's conversation. Her curiosity had won out in that regard.
She turned to face Constantine as the hatch slid shut behind her in smooth silence. "If they are unworthy of this task, it could cost us all."

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Eigneh, a statue of metal and flesh, mocked a laugh after the comms ended. "So, I'm an idealist now mr Constantine. How interesting... I wonder if that view of me can be used to our advantage in the future."
Constantine shrugged. "Well sir, there are advantages to looking like the 'good guy'. The law will leave us alone and we're more likely to be the beloved saviors then just crooks. Makes my work easier by a fair bit at least."
Eigneh agreed and gave a slight nod to Constantine. Thumbing the ship's overhead Eigneh's voice boomed throughout the ship. "All hands, finish with your quarters and report to the Bridge. We have work to get to. Ardgutz, see to the new hands and 'help' them along if need be."
Through the ship Ardgutz could be heard laughing. An odd joining of deep toned grunting and growling within the hops of his lungs.

Arl and Josey had already dropped their kit off in their quarters and were in the middle of exploring the ship, paying particular attention to the mess hall when the summons came.
Arl had liberated a slice of meal brick and was idly chewing as he and his partner approached the bridge. Josey, whose hand seemed never to stray from the butt of his ripper simply asked "you called skipper?"

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Eigneh noticed one of the newcomers with his hand on his pistol. A good habit to be sure as one never knew when battle would begin. Though it would no do to have the captain appear unprepared. So Eigneh welcomed the newcomers to the the bridge with a gesture from his chainfist, being sure that the large stormbolter attached was in their clear sight.
"Indeed I did, welcome and take a seat or corner. We're just waiting on the rest of the crew to arrive. Mr Constantine has found some work for us that looks VERY interesting."

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
A few minutes after Arl and Josey's arrival, the rest of the new crew members pile in through the hatch and make themselves comfortable for the briefing.
Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
“Two kilometers and closing, Captain. They either haven’t seen us, or they’re waiting for us to dock before they spring their trap. Anyone care to wager which?” Verbal glanced around at his new shipmates. The Captain remained stoic and silent, and Constantine smirked, shaking his head.
“I’m betting on trap. Anyone want to know why?” Again, silence filled the bridge as the holographic display ticked off the distance in low tones.
“Fine. Don’t listen to me. I have to stay on the ship anyways. Everyone else has the grand adventure while I get to monitor the auspex and keep them from scrambling the vox.” Verbal deftly maneuvered the ship to the docking port, rotating the vessel 90 degrees to match up the airlocks, “Docking complete. Have fun storming the space station!”
“I will signal you if we need to withdraw. Keep all systems at the ready.” Eigneh spoke, his low baritone swelling in the confines of the bridge.
“We ain’t gonna wit’draw.” Ardgutz laughed, “Cap’n better leave some live ‘unz for me ‘dis time. Not ‘da half-smushed ones, neither!”
Eigneh chuckled, “There will be plenty for all this time. Plenty of death, indeed… All hands, prepare for boarding!”

The crew assigned to the battle stood ready as the airlock cycled through, and unlocked.
The hatch slid open with a metallic screech, and the killing began.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
As the airlock cycles open, the crew is greeted by a similar looking empty airlock and beyond that a plain corridor. The lights are all a dull red and only a flashing green bulb on the inside of the station lock adds any colour.
Of life, there is no sign.

Eigneh advanced slowly into the darkness. Honored Armour, begin thermal and audio scans. The data flowed before Eigneh's eyes. IR, UV, standard light vision overlapped his view. Sound detection grids dotted the screens below his eye ports. "Hold for a scan, an ambush here wouldn't fair us to well." he said to the crew over their closed comms. Eigneh leveled his stormbolter down the corridor and palmed a frag for secondary measure.
Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Haxta paused just inside the airlock, her boltgun to her shoulder in readiness, aiming off to one side of Eigneh. She waited for the marine to conduct his inspection of the area; between his armor and sensors, he was the most logical choice for the task. Over her shoulder, Haxta's ballistic mechadendrite twitched eagerly. Logic was all well and good, but emotion rarely cared much for the stuff.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Constantine stood off to the side of the great bulk of the Captain, and waited. No threats materialized, and so he strode forward into the station, pausing only to press his right hand against his small brooch for a moment.
"It appears we are not going to face resistance in this section of the station. I advise expanding our perimeter to include these adjacent hallways. If we cover our advance, we can fall back if needed. What do you think, Captain?"
The silence of the corridors around them seemed foreboding, as if the enemy would strike at any moment.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Arl and Josey peeled off to the left and right, taking cover behind the lips of the stations hatch. Arl poked the snout of his flamer into the hallway, the igniter coming to life with a snap-hiss.
Josey, now fully suited up, pointed his ripper down the hall in a two handed grip.
"Any of yous got an auspex?" He vocalised through his rebreathers bead.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Taura stood tall and proud, holding her intricately designed laspistol straight ahead into the room. It was there more as a show of force; regardless of how dangerous it was, Taura much preferred the destructive potential afforded by various warp powers. Don't you have a bad feeling? I do, something will go wrong. Taura twitched her head to the right, as if trying to shake out the voice whispering in her head. Her eyes glowed a dim purple with the readying warp energy fizzing around her body.
Her eyes rolled back within her skull as she caste her mental body outward down the corridor, attempting to sense for life.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Eigneh froze, his massive bulk falling silent. "Movement ahead, ambush likely. Possible targets starting within twenty five meters. Ardgutz, spring their trap!"
Ardgutz, hearing his captain's command charged passed the crew around him. Knocking aside any who failed to get our of his way. "Its time for a gud WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Slamming his powerclaw against the bulkheads as he ran down the corridor. His eyes searching about for his first victim.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
As Ardgutz charges down the corridor, four bio-mechanical monstrosities make their appearance. At first glance they appear to be combat servitors but a closer inspection reveals a set of whipping tentacles where an arm should be and bare musculature in place of the usual pistons and gears.
One, a model with a snake like mechanical lower body appears out of an unnoticed maintenance hatch and cuts the Ork off from his fellows. The other three make their presence known to his front.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
The corridor is suddenly bathed in searing white light, and the thunderclap of repeated plasma fire rings down the corridor.
The snake machine collapses on the floor, it's torso wreathed in flame. A keening wail emanating from its wreckage.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Ardgutz, ignorant to the threat that had appeared and then been destroyed behind him, crashed into the leading servitor in a mix of sounds and nearly palpable blood lust. Its arms reaching out to deflect the raging ork, swaying aside a single only to allow three more to land. Ardgutz's power klaw cleaved the servitor in half with its body crumbling, he struck again and again. Ground and servitor becoming more a lump soup draining through ruts in the flooring.
Eigneh seeing and knowing how any fight that involves a raging ork handles sighted his storm bolter down range. "Blessed armor, guide fire above directional friendly target. Arching cover fire" As Eigneh moved his arm and weapon across his site line the Armor's spirit reached out under protective targeting patterns. Ten rounds flew down range while only two found their mark in the servitor nearest the raging ork. Two were enough with explosive force of the Emperor's chosen bolts and another enemy burst into meaty metal chunks. A glorious kill which Eigneh should accept with humility, but with a slight grin of enjoyment with which he shouldn't.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
The third servitor clicked and whirred, processing the battle that had taken place around it. Taura made every attempt to penetrate the servitors mind, to edge into its consciousness but the artificial implants dotted across its body made its thoughts impenetrable. She caught whispers, cold and empty little trails of commands racing around its artificial head. The fact the should not hear hurt.
The mind was alien, untouchable and even taunted her with the little thoughts that leaked from it.
She rose her hand and growled imperceptibly, firing blindly from the laspistol in her hand toward the now advancing servitor. She managed to hit perfectly, despite her rage. The servitor fell backwards, whirring manically. In moments it stood up, small little burn marks forming on its armour plating.
Taura failed to control her rage, screaming with the full force of her mind. The room darkened, wind exploding from her now glowing face. The servitor stood defiant against her anger.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
Upon witnessing Taura's power, Josey collapses on the floor, clawing at his ears and screaming. In moments he is unconcious.
Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
After laying one of the servitors low with a shot from each of his twin plasma pistols, Constantine slumped against the wall of the dingy corridor, looking to find another shot around the hulking Ork.
As Taura began to shriek, he placed his forearms to his ears and squinted his eyes tightly; he knew an angry psycher when he saw one.

Re: Rogue Trader: Hastier
The remaining servitor raises its flamer and engulfs the rampaging ork in a wash of flame. Miraculously, he emerges from the fire little more then scorched, though a good portion of his clothing is burned away and what is left is smouldering. Filling the corridor with the smell of burning squig hide and hair.
